A man was arrested in Campbell for vandalizing the city’s iconic water tower after being caught on the structure early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a call at 2:25 a.m. and found the suspect, 24-year-old Briley Bodemark, still on the tower, causing further damage.
Despite repeated requests to come down, Bodemark remained on the tower for over two hours before voluntarily descending around 4:40 a.m. A brief foot chase followed his descent, leading to his arrest.
Bodemark faces felony vandalism, possession of graffiti tools, and resisting arrest charges. Police noted previous incidents of vandalism at the tower on Dec. 26 and Jan. 9.
Thanks to an alert community member, authorities were able to apprehend the suspect without escalating the situation.
The city coordinated with Public Works to remove the graffiti, and a photo posted online showed workers painting over the damage. The date of Bodemark’s court appearance has not been announced.
