California Man Arrested in Connection with Wisconsin School Shooter’s Plan

MILWAUKEE — A 20-year-old man from California, Alexander Paffendorf, has been arrested for allegedly planning a mass shooting at a government building.

Officials believe he was working with Natalie Samantha Rupnow, the 15-year-old responsible for a tragic school shooting in Wisconsin earlier this week.

Rupnow, a freshman at Abundant Life Christian School, brought two guns to her school on Monday. She used one to kill a student and a teacher and injured six others before being stopped.

The FBI arrested Paffendorf, who lives in Carlsbad, California, after finding messages where he told Rupnow he planned to use guns and explosives to attack a government building. The FBI confirmed they saw the messages between Paffendorf and Rupnow.

On Tuesday, a judge in San Diego issued a restraining order against Paffendorf. He is now required to give up any guns or ammunition he owns and is banned from getting more. Later that day, neighbors in Paffendorf’s apartment complex reported seeing over a dozen police cars and officers with weapons surround the area.

One neighbor, Alex Gallegos, told a local news outlet, They had their guns out everywhere. I saw around 15 police officers here.

Paffendorf has a court hearing scheduled for January 3.

Authorities are still investigating, but so far, it seems Rupnow only used one of the two guns she brought to the school during the attack.
