California Health Care Workers to See Wage Increase Under SB 525 Starting This October

California’s Senate Bill 525, set to take effect on October 16, will raise the minimum wage for certain health care workers, aiming for $25 per hour over the next decade.

Signed by Governor Gavin Newsom last year, the bill originally planned for implementation on June 1, but concerns over its financial impact delayed it.

The California Department of Finance estimates the law could cost the state $1.4 billion in its first six months.

This wage hike will benefit workers in health care facilities that provide direct patient care or related support services, affecting thousands of employees across the state.
