Blue Ridge Aviation Students Lead Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts

Blue Ridge Aviation students are stepping up to provide vital relief to areas hit by Hurricane Helene, flying much-needed supplies to affected regions in northwestern North Carolina, southwestern Virginia, and eastern Tennessee. According to flight instructor Melissa Boan, the effort has exceeded expectations, with around 50 flights completed and more scheduled for at least the next week.

Boan expressed gratitude for the overwhelming community support, noting that the volume of donations turned the operation into something larger than initially anticipated. Pilots from across Virginia have eagerly volunteered, loading planes with supplies and flying them to areas in need.

Boan highlighted the camaraderie and dedication of everyone involved, from local pilots to airport staff. She also encouraged continued donations to sustain the ongoing relief efforts.
