The Pinkerton Academy Girls’ Basketball team began their season with a bang on Friday night, Dec. 16, by blowing out the Alvirne Broncos 78-45.
The Lady Broncos were able to keep pace with the Lady Astros in the first period, but the game quickly went in Pinkeron’s favor in the second and beyond.

After the first, PA led 20-16, but that’s as close as it would get.
The Astros really turned up the defense in the second, keeping the ball out of the basket the entire period, while scoring 22 for a 44-16 lead heading into the half.
Pinkerton had a 19-17 advantage in the third quarter for a 61-33 lead into the final period.
In the final quarter, the Astros tallied another 19-points and gave up just 12 for the lopsided win.
Junior guard, Liz Lavoie, led the team in scoring with 23-points, including one, three-pointer.
Newcomer freshman forward, Brooke Benz, tallied 17-points in her high school debut.
Sophomore guard, Sydney Gerossie, finished with 13-points, sophomore Kaylee Dupuis had 11-points and sophomore Emily Leonard had two, three-pointer for six-points in the game.
The Lady Astros will finish out 2022 with two games this week, first at home, against Concord on Tuesday, Dec. 20 and then on Thursday, Dec. 22 at Exeter High School against the Blue Hawks.
