GHENT, WV – Hurricane Helene has caused widespread power outages in the region. Appalachian Power currently reports 2,200 outages in Tennessee, West Virginia, and Virginia, but they don’t have detailed information for individual counties yet.
AEP spokesperson George Porter stated that crews are on-site assessing the damage. They are focused on restoring power to as many customers as possible and are asking for patience due to ongoing flooding in many areas. Safety is a priority as they work with partner organizations to remove trees and restore power.
Since the storm on September 27, they have managed to restore power to about 40,000 people. If you want to report a power outage, please use their website or mobile app.
