American Cancer Society Secures $1 Million Grant to Boost Patient Lodging and Transportation in Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. — The American Cancer Society ACS announced on Tuesday that it received a $1 million grant to improve lodging and transportation programs in Wisconsin and other states. This grant will provide essential support to cancer patients, giving them the resources and hope needed to fight their illness.

The ACS aims to ensure everyone has equal access to cancer treatment and survival. The grant will help break down barriers to care by offering crucial services to patients in Wisconsin, Montana, North Dakota, and Minnesota.

These programs will fund health systems, foundations, and community organizations, ensuring that cancer patients can access the transportation and lodging they need. This support will allow patients to attend necessary medical appointments and focus on their treatment and recovery, knowing they have the resources for equitable care.

For rural residents battling cancer, the cost of travel and lodging can be a significant obstacle to receiving life-saving treatment. These programs aim to ease that burden and reduce disparities in access to care.
