16-Year-Old Driver Dies in Johnston County Police Chase Crash

A 16-year-old driver died, and a juvenile passenger was injured after a crash that followed a police chase in Johnston County, North Carolina.

On Friday night, a State Highway Patrol officer tried to stop a white Chrysler 300 for speeding on I-40 East. The 16-year-old driver didn’t stop and kept speeding.

The officer followed the car as it exited onto US-301 North but lost track of it when it turned onto Baker Street in Four Oaks.

A few minutes later, another officer found the car on Hockaday Road. It had crossed into the opposite lane and hit a tree. The driver, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.

The juvenile passenger had minor injuries.
