A man who was found dead Monday afternoon in Derry has been identified as Sean Carrier of 16 Linlew Drive.
Derry Police Capt. Vern Thomas confirmed on Tuesday morning, June 17, that Carrier, 39, was the man found dead off the Rockingham Recreational Trail.
Thomas said police received a call Sunday at 8 p.m. from a Derry woman who identified herself as Carrier’s girlfriend and expressed concern for his well-being. Thomas wrote in a press release, “The woman stated that she had not heard from him for a few days and wished to report him missing.”
On Monday police investigated and located Carrier’s van, parked and apparently abandoned at the parking lot at the intersection of the Rockingham Trail and Island Pond Road. Police requested the assistance of New Hampshire Fish and Game, and four Fish and Game officers and 10 Derry officers searched the area for 3 1/2 hours before locating Carrier’s body near a stream off the trail.
Thomas said there were no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances and no crime is being charged in connection with the death. The press release stated that there was an indication Carrier may have been using drugs prior to his death.
The death remains under investigation, and those with information are asked to call Derry police at 432-6111.
